Today I’d like to turn your attention toward two free Christmas tunes from the now-defunct Destiny’s Child. 

“Silent Night” and “Little Drummer Boy” originally appeared on the trio’s 2001 holiday release, 8 Days Of Christmas (later expanded for a 2004 reissue). Now the pair has been plucked for a 7-song sampler from Music World, the label run by Matthew Knowles, Beyoncé‘s papa. Besides the two songs by Destiny’s Child, the remaining five tracks from lesser-known labelmates Brian Courtney Wilson, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, Micah Stampley, and Steve Wash Jr., lack the polished production and sheer star power that Beyoncé, Kelly, and Michelle bring to these particular Christmas festivities.

Now you can’t get more traditional than “Silent Night” and “Little Drummer Boy,” but both of these Christmas chestnuts were given R&B makeovers that match what Destiny’s Child did best. So get prepped to hear more prominent beats and many vocal flourishes.
