Though I’ve as yet been unsuccessful in my effort to procure a copy of Saint Etienne‘s limited-edition Christmas album, A Glimpse Of Stocking, I did manage to stumble upon a second free download from the set, a tune called “Through The Winter.”

“Though The Winter” is polar opposite of the first free festive Saint Etienne original I featured, “No Cure For The Common Christmas.” While that amped-up track was dance floor ready, “Through The Winter” is its chillout-room cousin, a meditative song sprinkled with occasional music-box twinkles. Still, as I found with “No Cure,” this atmospheric tune from the British pop trio (which dates from 2006) also has a very Pet Shop Boys quality to it. Hear here:
