A Revolution Thru Portgual

April 7, 2012 0 Comments

Hailing from Portugal, Soul Therapy is comprised of DJs/producers China and Villanova, paired with the talents of Kat Blu, a singer-songwriter born in Washington, D.C.

Soul Therapy’s debut EP, Life, was released last December on Nervous Records, though it was only a couple of weeks ago that the 3-track set appeared on mainstream services.

“Life Is Beautiful” and “Already Mine” have a funky, soulful house feel, but the final track, “Dance Thru Revolution,” takes things in a progressive house direction. Rarely do I not want to go to there.

Soul Therapy’s groove and Kat Blu’s vocals on “Dance Thru Revolution” are some mood-altering stuff, in the best possible way. The bottom end is phenomenal, and I love the brief touches of organ toward the end (very “A Deeper Love”). If psychiatrists dispensed club music as therapy — not an altogether bad idea, come to think of it — “Dance Thru Revolution” would be just what the doctor ordered.
