Dave Edwards Adds His Electro Flow to Flo Rida

Dave Edwards, who dazzled eardrums last fall with his remix of Duke Dumont’s A*M*E-featuring “Need U (100%),” has turned his talents toward a less likely candidate, rapper Flo Rida’s Nina Simone-sampling single, “How I Feel.” It was a challenge the New York producer fully embraced.

“I wanted to create a remix that would appeal even to people who would otherwise never listen to or support his music, and take the song into an entirely new context,” Edwards tells Popservations. “I decided to entirely change the chord progression, harmony, and just about every element of the song to create a feel good, summertime electropop tune that works as well in a DJ set as it will on the beach or driving with the windows down and the music up. If you’re anywhere like I am right now — in New York City, where it’s been freezing for three months straight — I hope this remix will get you ready for better days to come.”

With Flo Rida’s “How I Feel” dropping off the Billboard Hot 100 after peaking at #96 a couple of weeks ago, the rapper’s label would be wise to consider servicing Edwards’ sparkling head-to-toe revamp to radio. That’s how I feel, anyway.
