Freemasons Bring It Back

March 9, 2013 1 Comment

After a relatively quiet 2012 — too quiet, because I love what these guys do way too much — UK dance duo Freemasons have returned with their first original track of 2020, “Bring It Back.”

Working a very Daft Punk vibe on “Bring It Back,” the Brighton boys got to playing with their toys for the stop-action music video. Filmed at Freemasons’ studio in December, Russell Small and James Wiltshire say much caffeine and swearing were involved behind the scenes, but it’s clear from the resulting clip that their painstaking effort paid off:

“Bring It Back” is out now on their own Freemaison label, to be followed soon by “Tears” featuring Katherine Ellis. The duo previously collaborated with Ellis on 2008’s “When You Touch Me.”

Freemasons are still remixing others’ tracks too, with Depeche Mode’s new single, “Heaven,” the latest to be taken to a much better place by their expert hands. Listen here:

What else is up next for Freemasons? A couple of days ago they tweeted a photo of the whiteboard in their studio, which seems to suggest some new productions for Sophie Ellis-Bextor (“S.E.B.”) are on the way. Remember “Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)”? Still amazing.
