Frenchie’s Connection

October 27, 2012 1 Comment

Frenchie Davis, who was unceremoniously dismissed from the second season of American Idol, soon found a home for her talents on Broadway (Rent, Dreamgirls, Ain’t Misbehavin’), and finished fifth last year on the inaugural season of The Voice, has released her debut solo single — a dance-pop track called “Love’s Got A Hold On Me.”

Written by former Livin’ Joy vocalist Janice Robinson (“Dreamer”) and produced by Magnificent, the powerful “Love’s Got A Hold On Me” is a perfect match for a big-voiced diva like Davis. Though she isn’t working with a major label, this is no small budget affair. Check out the Mad Max-inspired music video directed by Chán André and Brian Friedman (Britney Spears, The X-Factor, So You Think You Can Dance).

According to Davis’ website, remixes of “Love’s Got A Hold On Me” are on the way from Dave Audé, DJ Laszlo, Itay Kalderon, Klubjumpers, and more. Currently, only edits of the main mix and DJ Laszlo’s remix are available for download.

Frenchie Davis has been ready for the big time for a long, long time. Here’s hoping “Love’s Got A Hold On Me” takes hold, connecting Davis with the kind of lasting mainstream attention she so richly deserves:
