‘Lord’ of the Disco

I’m not sure how I came across this, and I’d prefer to give proper credit, but The Eddie House EP from Steed Lord is working me ovah.

A self-described “musical performance art project” hailing from Reykjavik, Iceland, Steed Lord now calls Los Angeles’ Silverlake neighborhood home. Neither of those locations would seem to suggest the trio’s spot-on recreation of vintage disco and house, but Kali (“vocal diva extraordinare”), Demo (producer/synthesizers), and Mega (producer/maestro/art director) have managed to recapture the essence of both genres. Even more amazingly, if I’m to believe what I’ve skimmed, Steed Lord has managed to do so without lifting a single sample of what’s come before.

Currently working on their follow-up to last year’s Heart II Heart album, Steed Lord issued The Eddie House EP to celebrate their journey together since starting in 2006. There’s a mix of old and new here, with first track, “You,” dating back to the band’s original MySpace page, and was never officially released until now. Steed Lord describes the EP as being “packed with burning hot disco house anthems with a French touch for all your 24-hour-daylight-bbq-pool-party-needs.”

Fire it up and get wet while you can, because there’s no going wrong with Steed Lord on the stereo. Hear here:
