The resurgence of house music in the last couple of years continues to amaze and excite me.
This week, London dance duo X-Press 2 released “Let Love Decide,” taken from their new album The House Of X-Press 2. The single features vocals by Roland Clark, the DJ/producer previously in front of the mic for Armand Van Helden’s “Flowerz” and Fatboy Slim’s “Star 69” and “Song For Shelter.”
In its original form, “Let Love Decide” is a dark and luscious house track, with X-Press 2’s Rocky and Diesel incorporating Clark’s vocals in different ways to great effect. A remix from Toronto duo Art Department drives things deeper, making bottom-end elements more prominent, while Kim Ann Foxman (Hercules And Love Affair) takes an entirely different tack, giving “Let Love Decide” a fresh freestyle feel.
Decisions, decisions…
I rarely recommend an entire EP of mixes, but X-Press 2’s “Let Love Decide” serves up such a strong trio that to decide otherwise wouldn’t be right.
