It’s one thing to hear a song somewhere, and be interested enough to Shazam it to find out the title/artist. But when one hears the same tune three times—over the course of three months, no less—and fumbles to pull up Shazam every single time, either said person (me) has a terrible memory, or the song holds up to repeated listening. Both, actually.
And so for your Monday morning consideration, I present Silversun Pickups’ “Panic Switch,” taken from the Los Angeles indie band’s second album, Swoon. The dark vocals over distorted guitars combo brings to mind, of all bands, early Cranes. Well, a more revved up Cranes, with Alison Shaw pitched down to sound more like SP vocalist/guitarist Brian Aubert. Ah, never mind. Just take a listen to “Panic Switch,” it’s good:
Silversun Pickups recently taped an acoustic performance for the rebooted MTV Unplugged, now showing exclusively online.
