Though only a little over a week has passed since Bright Light Bright Light eased us into fall with the release of Make Me Believe In Hope: Blueprints Version, his 2012 debut album gone acoustic, the talented Rod Thomas has plugged in the synthesizers and sequencers once more for a new track, “An Open Heart.”
His entreaty to an unnamed someone to love again, Bright Light Bright Light’s “An Open Heart” previews a brand-new EP slated for November, titled In Your Care. The track was co-written by Ian Masterson, producer for recent offerings from Belinda Carlisle and Bananarama, and also one half of ’90s remix duo Trouser Enthusiasts, who triumphantly returned last year to extend Bright Light Bright Light’s “Waiting For The Feeling.”
Awash in echoes of Erasure and fleeting reminders of Madonna — if the song’s title wasn’t enough of a nod, the cover art is a red-hued homage to her True Blue pose — “An Open Heart” proves easy to love.
