Track of the Moment

Not-So-Distant Cousins

October 9, 2012 0 Comments

Child Actor is the brainchild of Max Heath and Sedgie Ogilvy, cousins who reside in separate cities — New Haven, Connecticut, and Boston, Massachusetts, respectively. Rather than making the three-hour trip to work together in the same room, the pair prefers to create their chopped and screwed, R&B-hued electropop via long distance. (For the record, the process begins with Ogilvy singing at her piano.)

Following up this summer’s Window EP, Child Actor’s debut album, Victory, arrives on October 16, but “If You Loved Me” is the track you need to know now. The pulsating song is like a psychedelic “Dear Jessie,” with Child Actor choosing to saunter rather than run through the love parade. These two know not to rush a good thing.
