Devil In The Details For Cinnamon Girl

August 9, 2012 2 Comments

Cinnamon Girl is the ‘nom de pop’ of Camilla Roholm, a Danish singer-songwriter now living in London. There are no Neil Young or Prince fangirl associations with her stagename, which she picked only because she thought it sounded like a superhero. She owns about 200 hats, and has designs on being as big as Optimus Prime.

While that’s all very interesting, what does any of it have to do with her music, exactly?

Well, as new song, “Devil In Me,” demonstrates, Cinnamon Girl is aces at wearing the triumvirate of musical chapeaus — artist, writer, and producer. In the span of three-and-a-half minutes, she single-handedly navigates both the dark and light sides of pop music while also transforming its sometimes robotic tendencies. In short, she’s got a new fanboy. Do I get a decoder ring or some other fantastical tchotchke for joining forces with Cinnamon Girl?
