Okay, so Ciara’s recent SNL appearance was underwhelming (vocally, anyway), but I don’t understand why her duet with Justin Timberlake, “Love Sex Magic,” hasn’t done better. (I even picked up her new album, Fantasy Ride, on the basis of that one track. The album has its moments.)

“Love Sex Magic” peaked at #10 in mid-April, an amazing three weeks after the song made its chart debut at #86. Set to a simmering rhythm, such a brilliant pop pairing deserves to be burning speakers up all summer long. But the world seems to have gone all topsy-turvy on Ciara and JT, with the twosome sitting at just #44 this week.

Is the magic really over for this song—before the season’s even begun? I demand a rally, people:
