When a band hits it big the first time out, expectations can’t help but run high for their second at-bat.
But from the sound of “Coming Of Age,” the first single from Foster The People‘s forthcoming sophomore album, Supermodel, there’s no fear of the L.A. band striking out. Even better, there’s a snap to the song that sets this one apart from anything on Torches. Adding some great Beach Boys-style backgrounds, “Coming Of Age” has a foot firmly planted in the ’60s and ’80s, even as Mark Foster sings, “I’m always moving forward and not looking back.”
The music video for “Coming Of Age,” which culls inspiration from ’80s films, was directed by BRTHR.
Foster recently spoke with NME about his band’s breakthrough hit, “Pumped Up Kicks,” sharing how the song came to be and a structural change he wishes he would have made.
