Typically when December rolls around, record labels ease up on new stuff, having shot their Q4 wad in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving. But Cherrytree Records, basking in some very good news thanks to last night’s Grammy nominations, is actually amping up the promotion for two artists on its roster.
Today, Natalia Kills premiered her music video for “Mirrors,” while Frankmusik‘s visual showcase for “The Fear Inside” (the first single from his forthcoming sophomore LP) is set to pop in full this Sunday (preview here). The two Brits have also combined artistic forces for a little something, but more on that later.
Natalia Kills’ “Mirrors” actually isn’t all that new, since the single has been out since August. But a 4-track remix EP arrived at the start of November, and just over a week ago Natalia Cappuccinni wrapped up Robyn’s North American tour as one of the opening acts. Unfortunately I arrived to that final gig just as she was finishing her set, though I did snag the “Mirrors” remix EP and an autograph later that night.
Now comes the premiere of music video for “Mirrors”, part of a second push that might very well make this song the “Just Dance” of 2011. Natalia Kills’ spin on electro-dance definitely shares a sonic resemblance to Lady Gaga, and astute chartwatchers will recall that “Just Dance” hung around for nine months before achieving its 3-week run at #1 at the start of 2009. Perseverance and a whole lotta promotion pays off in pop, and from the looks of it, Natalia Kills possesses the drive to make it to the mainstream.
Of course, infusing a little bit of sexual energy in your bid for success never hurt, as evidenced by the video below:
Keeping it in the Cherrytree family, Natalia Kills has contributed vocals to a track on Frankmusik’s forthcoming LP, while he’s done up a “Mirrors” rework in return. Snag a free download of “Mirrors” (Frankmusik’s Osidian Overkill Remix) via Arjan Writes.
