No Age’s joyful noise

I hope you don’t mind my musical moodswings, dear readers, because coming after that list of leaked Madonna demos, this one is a downright doozy.

“Glitter” is the first single from Everything In Between, the new album from L.A.’s No Age, due out on September 28. It kicks off briefly sounding like The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven,” coupled with the handclaps of a cheerleading chant. But then the buzzing rumble of feedback rolls in, followed by the piercing squelch and squeal of guitar, signaling something different.

Even among the swirling industrial-strength blasts of “Glitter,” an irresistible melody remains. No Age singer/drummer Dean Spunt attacks on two fronts, begging you to keep the beat pounding under his simple plea, “I want you back underneath my skin.” And after a single spin, you’ll be joining in the chorus to get him whatever it is he wants again:
