Following their sensual cover of Mariah Carey’s “Heartbreaker,” London duo Pandr Eyez have shared another track from their new Present EP, out now.
Kicking off with a memorable quote from The Color Purple (go, Celie!), “Don’t Hurt ‘Em” blends present-day Beyoncé-style assertiveness with the buzzing electro of Post-era Björk, while pausing for some stirring ’70s soul.
Ferren Gipson and Tom Lloyd have positioned themselves as a duo full of sonic surprises, and “Don’t Hurt ‘Em” delivers spectacularly. No wonder it’s their favorite track from the EP. Dear god, I’m glad Pandr Eyez is here.
Also check out “Brr,” a third offering from Present. “It’s fairly ratchet, which I think we all secretly love,” Gipson tells Popservations.
