Say Lou Lou – “Julian”

Aussie-Swedish twin sister duo Say Lou Lou (formerly Saint Lou Lou) have debuted the music video for new single “Julian,” the first release on Elektra and Miranda Kilbey’s own à Deux label, distributed in the U.S. via Downtown Records.

I can’t quite make out what’s happening in the video, directed in London and Stockholm by Philippe Tempelman, except that the seedy, unsettling visuals (prefaced by a Parental Advisory warning) do a disservice to the dreamy, driving “Julian.” In the song, Say Lou Lou are saviors (“I’ll get us through the checkpoints, yeah I know we’ll be all right”), but the clip isn’t clear about who’s saving whom from what, or why.

“Julian” arrived last week on an EP featuring remixes by Dan Lissvik, Martin Dubka, Monsieur Adi, and Checan, accompanied by the B-side “Fool Of Me,” featuring Chet Faker. Pick of the pack is Monsieur Adi‘s remix, with the Paris-based producer setting “Julian” loose under the French filter-disco lights.
