Today Christina Aguilera premiered the first single from her forthcoming album Bionic, due June 8th, and it’s a corker.
“Not Myself Tonight” was co-written and produced by Polow Da Don (Fergie, The Pussycat Dolls), but stamped with Aguilera’s defiant, no-apologies attitude, she outright owns the track. I can’t imagine another pop star doing it, or doing it better.
Recounting a evening’s worth of out-of-character behavior (she kissed all the boys and girls!), Aguilera revels in having expressed her crazy, mischievous side. Sure, she may sing, “The old me’s gone, I feel brand new,” but we all know better. Dirrty Christina is back, thank you, done up as a dapper dominatrix on the single’s cover to seal the deal.
Yes, it’s about time for her arrival—all over again in 2010:
I’m more than ready to get my speakers pumping with “Not Myself Tonight,” but Aguilera’s single won’t hit iTunes until April 14. Such a tease!
