If my favorite TV shows were planets, they’re definitely aligning this week. The CW has renewed Reaper, making a pact with its producers for a 13-episode run next year. The “horramedy” will likely appear midseason, substituting for Smallville.
The Reaper callback was really cutting it close, since The CW presents its 2008-2009 slate of shows to advertisers today. Network execs are reportedly fond of the show, though ratings have been weak. Reaper does regularly attract a fiercely loyal group of viewers (like me), the very definition of a cult show.
That’s not to say you, Virgin Viewers, can’t jump in now without missing a beat. Start with the series trailer:
And while you’re at it, take a trip inside the mind of the devil himself, Ray Wise. (Twin Peaks fans will recall Mr. Wise played Laura Palmer’s pop, and there’s a choice tidbit or two in that same interview about that infamous role, too.)
See, now don’t you wanna watch? An all-new Reaper airs tonight at 8/7 Central on The CW.
