Eli’s coming

October 14, 2008 0 Comments

If you didn’t catch Eli Stone last year, the second season of the ABC dramedy begins tonight. When we last left our titular character, Eli had undergone surgery to remove a brain aneursym, thought to be the cause of his prophetic visions.

Well, the show has undergone a little surgery in the interim as well, reportedly reigning in the loopiness in an effort to attract some new eyeballs. Thus, I go into tonight cautiously optimistic that the Eli Stone some of us fell in love with last season remains, hopeful that upcoming guest turns from Sigourney Weaver, Seal, and Katie Holmes don’t steal too much screen time from an already outstanding supporting cast (I’m looking at you, Loretta Devine). If change means no more musical sequences featuring a singing/dancing Victor Garber, then I’m good.

One thing definitely different this time around are the episode titles; once named for George Michael songs (who also appeared as himself a few times), tonight’s premiere, “The Path,” bears no such relationship (though the singer was headed down a bad one again recently).

Tune in to see what has become of Eli Stone tonight at 10/9 Central on ABC.
