The return of ‘Rock’

April 8, 2008 0 Comments

NBC’s Thursday comedy slate returns this week with all new episodes. Though I rarely watch My Name Is Earl and Scrubs, and only occasionally remember to TiVo The Office, the night’s true must-see for me is 30 Rock.

While the show was off the air due to the Writers Strike, Rock star Tina Fey nabbed a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy. And just last week, the Emmy Award-winning series added a prestigious Peabody Award to its mantel of prizes (Project Runway, Mad Men, and The Colbert Report were also among the entertainment series honored). For once, NBC honchos have aligned with critical opinion, renewing 30 Rock for the 2008-2009 season.

On Thursday’s episode, Jack (Alec Baldwin) celebrates the success of MILF Island, a reality show he developed, while discovering one TGS staffer doesn’t hold him in high esteem. Too bad Fey’s Liz Lemon isn’t a baby mama, ’cause if it was up to me she’d totally be the last MILF standing.
