Saddling themselves with a memorable but grammatical clunker of a name, An Horse is an indie-pop duo from Brisbane, Australia. Kate Cooper and Damon Cox’s insistent sound reminds me of Tegan and Sara, which makes some sense once you know the history the pairs share.
In December 2007, Cooper handed Tegan and Sara some demos she and Cox had just completed (the two shaped their music while working together in a record shop). Soon after that post-concert exchange, Sara Quin began serving a mentor to An Horse, inviting them along on tour, advising them on their sound, and finding them a manager.
An Horse’s debut LP, Rearrange Beds, was released in March 2009, so this is no new release. The video for “Postcards” first premiered a few months back as well, but I only recently caught this work of creative genius, a clip which presents both art project and anatomy lesson:
An Horse hit the studio yesterday to begin recording the follow-up to Rearrange Beds.
