According to my Annie-tracker, we hadn’t heard anything from the Norwegian popster since her 2011 team-up with Toxic Avenger, “Alien Summer.” And as far as songs on the solo front, it’s been nearly four years since Annie delivered her sophomore set, 2009’s Don’t Stop.
But now there’s movement on both fronts. First, Annie’s hooked up with some Norwegian neighbors for “Take A Look At The World.” She’s the featured vocalist on Ralph Myerz’s track, which was co-produced by Røyksopp.
“Take A Look At The World” will appear on Myerz’s new album, Super Sonic Pulse, out June 3. No word on whether the single will reach the rest of the world, but you can listen to the song via this radio rip:
Even better, Annie has also debuted a new single, “Tube Stops And Lonely Hearts.” Billed as an “emotional tribute to the rave culture in the early nineties,” the song’s been in the works for a while. She started writing the song while at Xenomania headquarters in England and later finished it up back in her adopted home of Berlin with producer Ville Haimala.
Check out the somewhat curious video to “Tube Stops And Lonely Hearts.” Instead of scenes of ravers “spinning round and round” in a club, we see a remarkably subdued Annie hanging out in a hall of doors and footage of a PowerBar-fueled spin class atop a skyscraper.
Remixes of “Tube Stops And Lonely Hearts” are reportedly on the way from Filippo Moscatello and Baumecker & Barker.
Annie – “Tube Stops And Lonely Hearts” is out May 1 via her own Totally Records.
