Two weeks after its release, Dragonette‘s exuberant new single, “Let It Go,” remains stuck on repeat. Now New York City duo The Knocks deliver a new dimension to the track with a remix that also merits multiple plays.
Letting go of everything but Martina Sorbara’s vocals, B-Roc and JPatt bring some tasty ’80s touches to what’s essentially a completely new production. Reshaped in their capable hands, “Let It Go” sparkles, shimmers, and totally sings summer in a refreshingly retro way.
April weather may not cooperate in all locales, but I advise rolling down the windows and cranking the stereo when The Knocks’ remix hits your playlist:
The Knocks’ remix is on an EP of “Let It Go” remixes out today. Laidback Luke and Faustix & Imanos also have their way with Dragonette’s song, though they take things in an aggressive direction that doesn’t quite work for me.
