Turn It Up

INTERVIEW: Melissa Etheridge Charges Forward on New Album

April 10, 2015 0 Comments

New projects over the past year – some music-related, others not – have kept me super-busy, leaving exponentially less time to give Popservations the attention it deserves (though I do find a few minutes for Twitter here and there). Of course, I continue to discover and listen to great music from artists both old and new.

Two weeks ago, I interviewed Melissa Etheridge for Sutter Home Winery. The Grammy and Oscar-winning rock icon was in Napa, California, to perform an acoustic set for Live in the Vineyard, an exclusive music event held twice annually in Wine Country.

Melissa and I discussed the making of This Is M.E., her first album since parting ways with longtime label home, Island Records, and one of her best in recent memory. She continues to inspire new generations of artists, including Taylor Swift, who credits Melissa with inspiring her at age 11 to pursue music.

So kind and generous, Melissa was absolutely wonderful to chat with – I hope to hold her to that dinner date!– and since feedback from fans who’ve watched the interview has been enthusiastically complimentary, I wanted to share it here with you as well:

Grab a free download of Melissa’s latest single, “Monster.” And be sure to check out her new album, This Is M.E., via iTunes, Amazon MP3.
