New album Gravity The Seducer doesn’t come out until September 13, but today Ladytron released the first single from their upcoming set. “White Elephant” sounds like a ’60s girl group gone psychedelic — ethereal with just a touch of the spooky, thanks to the prominent harpsichord.

If you’d wondered what Ladytron’s Daniel Hunt meant when he termed their new musical direction “baroque ‘n’ roll,” this new song is a good indication of what to expect on the group’s follow-up to 2008’s Velocifero. Gravity The Seducer is co-produced by Simon “Barny” Barnicott (Elastica, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Editors).
