Turn It Up

Preaching To The ‘Choir’

Since being introduced to Meg Myers‘ talents via “Poison,” a song on producer Doctor Rosen Rosen’s GIRLS: VOLUME 1 EP last August, I’ve greeted each subsequent release from the Nashville native with a level of excitement typically reserved for more seasoned music biz players. She’s that good.

Last week, Myers released Daughter In The Choir, a free 7-track EP that collects “Poison” and previous singles “Monster,” “Adelaide,” and “After You,” while boasting new tunes “Curbstomp” (achingly raw) and “Tennessee” (an experimental diss track featuring Doctor Rosen Rosen and some banjo), plus a previously unissued remix of “Monster” by Semothy Jones, best described as orchestral dubstep.

Though I’m eagerly anticipating the day when Myers releases her debut full-length album, Daughter In The Choir serves as a fantastic introduction to her versatile vocal talents and skillful songwriting for the heretofore uninitiated. Catch up now, so you can say you were on board with this major new talent long before everyone else on your block.

In touch with Doctor Rosen Rosen about Myers’ EP, I inquired about the status of GIRLS: VOLUME 2. Currently narrowing down the songs to include, he hopes to have it ready in the next month or so.
