Turn It Up

Revolution 09/09/09

Well, 09/09/09 is nearing its close, and while the date was anxiously anticipated (and vigorously celebrated for various reasons), I still haven’t gotten around to digging into the Beatles box set, newly issued today.

I’ve only got the Stereo version of these remasters in my possession at the moment. I ordered the Mono set just this morning after receiving notice from Amazon that it was back in stock (I’d missed out on the initial run).

So in the spirit of the day, and before new sonic clarity changes my mind, I figured I’d do a quick rundown of my nine favorite Beatles tracks. No commentary, only song titles, as narrowing it down to one less than ten was no easy task.

“She Loves You”
“I’m Looking Through You”
“Eleanor Rigby”
“A Day In The Life”
“Strawberry Fields Forever”
“I Am The Walrus”
“I’m So Tired”
“Something”
“Revolution”

This was certainly tough, and it makes me a little ill to think about the many tunes I’d have to do without if these were indeed the only nine I could ever listen to again. (For me, that would mean no “A Hard Day’s Night,” “She Said She Said,” “In My Life”…)

If you’ve got the time and are so inclined, what are your nine?

Purchase The Beatles Box Set via Amazon (Stereo, Mono).
