A Roller Skating Jam Named ‘1974’

It’s been a few months since we’ve heard from The Knux, the LA-to-L.A. hip-pop duo who released their sophomore album, Eraser, last September. Back then, the buzz was around second single “Run,” featuring Kid Cudi. Unfortunately, and undeservedly so, “Run” ran out of steam pretty quickly.

This time, Rah and Krispy Lindsey make room for Cherrytree Records labelmate Natalia Kills in the featured seat, with a new music video for the supremely hooky “1974,” directed by Evan Owen Dennis. Some of the references may be off by a few years in either direction, but there’s no resisting The Knux’s sugar-laced mix of rhymes and live instrumentation. So strap on some rollerskates, pull up your rainbow-striped knee-high socks, and get down to “1974.”

The hook, maybe the best thing Kills has done to date, will stick with you after a single go-round:

From roller rinks to ice-skating rinks, amateur sport spots seem to be the trend in pop videos. Bowling alleys are next, no?
