I didn’t plan to feature two similarly themed songs on the same day, but that’s how things have turned out.
Following Clare Maguire’s “The Sword And The Shield,” the second in this kindred pair of relationship-terminus songs comes from BC Jean, the San Diego singer-songwriter best known for co-writing Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy.”
“I’ll Survive You” is a chin-up, moving-on tune that stands out from other current chart contenders thanks to an organic production with a bit of a rock edge. Not many female pop stars doing that at the moment, and this one could be BC Jean’s.
BC Jean made her television debut last night, performing “I’ll Survive You” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Today, she followed that career milestone with the premiere of the song’s music video.
