Beyoncé Was Here

August 19, 2012 0 Comments

Today, August 19, is the United Nations’ World Humanitarian Day, with the aim of reaching 1 billion people pledging to “do something good, somewhere for someone else.” And who better to draw global attention to that message than one of the biggest superstars on the planet, Beyoncé.

Giving voice to the occasion through her song, “I Was Here,” written by legendary tunesmith Diane Warren and featured on Beyoncé’s last album, 4, the video below was recorded live at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York on August 10 and released today. A grand stage if there ever was one, the impressive visual presentation was directed by Sophie Muller (No Doubt, Garbage) and Kenzo Digital, who designed the animation for Beyoncé’s 2011 Billboard Awards performance of “Run The World (Girls).”

Be sure to visit the World Humanitarian Day website to learn more about the work the U.N. does in this regard and how you can take action.
