Björk has released the music video for “Crystalline,” the first single from her multimedia project/album, Biophilia, out September 27. The clip re-teams the Icelandic songstress with longtime collaborator Michel Gondry, who’s lensed eight of Björk’s videos, including her very first, “Human Behaviour.”
Appearing as a planetary disco ball in “Crystalline,” Björk hovers above the surface of a crater-dotted moon from which crystals emerge and later shatter. Billboard interviewed Gondry about the inspiration behind the video, an article that offers the eye-opening quote that the French director/screenwriter is freaked out by the iPad. (Ironic, considering that’s the very technology upon which Björk is giving Biophilia its biggest push.)
Purchase Björk – “Crystalline” via iTunes, where you can also pick up the Biophilia app.
