Little Dragon have done something few have managed to achieve in 2011, turning out an album that I’ve repeatedly listened to since its release.

Give Ritual Union, the Swedish band’s third album, a spin and you’ll discover the set’s like little else out there. Mating electro buzzing and shifting synths with frontwoman Yukimi Nagano’s soulful, sultry vocals, Ritual Union pleases from start to finish. I’ve characterized the sound of Ritual Union as Sci-Fi R&B, and I can’t wait for Saturday, when Little Dragon lands in San Francisco and I get to see how they do it live.

About a month back, the band released a trippy music video for “Brush The Heat.” The animated clip was created by Nagano’s father, Yusuke, and his collaborator, OLGA. The Little Dragon frontwoman treats us to some sweet (or sweetly awkward) dance moves toward the end:
