Video Premiere

Cee Lo, Liberace, and Las Vegas

It should come as no surprise that Cee Lo Green, never shy about donning an elaborate headpiece, dressing up like a technicolor turkey, or performing on a levitating, spinning piano for his performances, would look to Liberace, the king of glittery excess, for inspiration in his latest video, “I Want You (Hold On To Love).”

Set in Las Vegas (naturally), “Loberace” makes Caesars Palace his playground. Accompanied by centurions and surrounded by showgirls, he ultimately steals a lady away from her royal partner with a sparkly necklace and his effervescent charm. Maybe the Hennessy’s to blame, but Cee Lo doesn’t call himself The Lady Killer for nothing.

“I Want You” is the fourth track from The Lady Killer to get the on-screen treatment, though it’s been remixed for single release with a sample of Saint Tropez’ “Hold On To Love” (1978). Currently promoted in the UK, “I Want You (Hold On To Love)” will reportedly be released here in July.

I was hoping that “Bright Lights Bigger City” would get a nice bump from being included in Cee Lo’s Billboard Awards medley, but the song has yet to breach the Billboard Hot 100 (though its video dates back to November), so I guess it’s ‘on to’ the next one.
