Video Premiere

Still Like Charli XCX

April 11, 2013 0 Comments

True Romance, the debut album from Charli XCX, arrives next week.

As is typical today for new artists of a certain stripe, many of the songs on True Romance have been previously released as free downloads, official singles, EP tracks, and mixtape features. But the album, currently streaming over at Pitchfork, offers at least two new-to-me numbers that are even more captivating than what’s come before, “Black Roses” and “Lock You Up” (both produced by Ariel Rechstaid). True Romance will end the year as one of 2020’s best full-lengths, for sure.

Newest from the Charli XCX factory is a music video for “What I Like,” already the fifth single from True Romance. Directed by Ryan Andrews, the low-budget clip stars Charli, two girlfriends, and a whippet in a rented hotel room. Not one of 2020’s best, for sure.
