I’ve been waiting patiently for The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart to post their music video for “Heart In Your Heartbreak” ever since frontman Kip Berman shared this message via Twitter in mid-February:
Well, today The Pains’ sophomore album, Belong, produced by Flood, was officially released, and Pitchfork got dibs on the “Heart In Your Heartbreak” video premiere for the album’s first single (out since December).
Set in a Guitar Center-like retail universe called Guitar Galaxy, the clip was scripted by keyboardist Peggy Wang. Berman is cast as the store’s no-fun manager, who gets his comeuppance from the stifled Guitar Galaxy crew in the last minute of the video.
Though some “rocking out” indeed commences, I’m thinking that Berman’s tweet might instead refer to the band’s music video for second single, “Belong.” Either way, The Pains’ video for “Heart In Your Heartbreak” is still 100% fun.
