Gossip has debuted the music video for their new single, “Perfect World.” The song, which has a Pat Benatar-meets-The-Motels pop-rock vibe, is the first taste of the trio’s forthcoming album, A Joyful Noise, produced by Brian Higgins.
Set in a candlelit church for an appropriately gothic glow, the music video for “Perfect World” is soaked in sepia tones until the song’s bridge. Frontwoman Beth Ditto, who casts a captivating spell throughout the clip, lays hands upon a magical stained glass window and colors the world around her.
The video, which also features some incongruous contemporary dancing, was directed by Price James, who lensed Ditto’s own “I Wrote The Book” and Sneaky Sound System’s “Really Want to See You Again.”
A Joyful Noise is out 5/22.
