Yesterday, The Raveonettes released their sixth studio album, Observator, which finds the Danish duo teaming up once again with producer Richard Gottehrer (Blondie, The Go-Go’s).
Today, The Raveonettes debuted a music video for “The Enemy,” off the new album. Since I’ve yet to listen to Observator in full (stream here), I can’t say whether “The Enemy” is the only track of its kind on the set, but the fuzz-free production isn’t typical territory for Sharin Foo and Sune Rose Wagner. Their unexpected shift to a more introspective sound has yielded this gorgeous result.
The tenderness at the heart of “The Enemy” is sure to have fans of early ’90s alt-pop swooning (think The La’s, The Lightning Seeds), and I doubt I’m alone in hoping The Raveonettes work up a few more tunes like this, if not an entire album’s worth.
Imogen Prado directed the hazy, swirling dream of a video.
