Nine months after sharing Zebra and Snake’s “Empty Love Song,” which later secured a spot on my Top Tracks of 2011 tally, here comes the Finnish duo’s music video for the song.
Taken from Zebra and Snake’s debut album, Healing Music, released in May, “Empty Love Song” gets the single treatment on August 20. That’s quite a lengthy delay — nearly a year since my first spin — but Tapio and Matti’s new video for “Empty Love Song” has amazingly arrived right on time, in light of today’s earlier Friday Flashback.
What I said last September still holds true today. Zebra and Snake’s tale of lost love, awash in OMD-esque synths, would have been an obvious pick for a John Hughes soundtrack. It’s a match made only in my dreams, of course, especially since the music video takes an artier approach to the material over scenes reminiscent of the late teen auteur.
