Say what you want about Maroon 5‘s Overexposed — I don’t have a strong opinion either way, really — but the band’s decision to work with outside writers for their fourth album is, well, working. All three singles from Overexposed have reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100: “Payphone” (#2), “One More Night” (#1), and “Daylight” (#7).
From the sound of new single, “Love Somebody,” Maroon 5 seems poised to go four for four. Co-written by Adam Levine with Nathaniel Motte (3OH!3) and producers Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella, “Love Somebody” is my favorite offering off of Overexposed thus far. And in a moment when so many music videos seem beside the point (if not outright disappointing), it’s hard to take your eyes off of the Rich Lee-directed clip for “Love Somebody”:
