It’s been several months since we last heard from singer-songwriter Meg Myers. The former Tennessean released her debut EP, Daughter In The Choir, produced by Doctor Rosen Rosen, in March, and now she’s returned with a music video for the achingly raw “Curbstomp.”
The song’s title conjures up a memorably disturbing scene from American History X, a movie that I haven’t seen a single frame of (the horror has only been described to me). Myers’ video is nowhere near as graphic, but what starts off as an innocent tea party with her stuffed animal friends becomes something darker and violent. Soon Myers is getting pummeled by the kind of plush toys up for grabs at the local carnival.
Keep your eyes peeled for the angry banana (which wouldn’t be a bad band name, come to think of it). Grammy Award winner Trish Sie (OK Go’s “Here It Goes Again”) directs.
