Video Premiere

Mr. Synth-Popper’s Penguin

Another artist that’s gotten plenty of Free Weekend love but never a solo feature (until now) is Penguin Prison, the synth-pop moniker of New York’s Chris Glover. If you’ve been tracking along with those weekly posts, your iTunes library should include Penguin Prison remixes for Marina & The Diamonds, Kylie Minogue, Jamiroquai, and The Temper Trap, plus a number of versions of his own “Multi-Millionaire.”

With Penguin Prison’s eponymous debut set for a fall release via Downtown Records (home to Scissor Sisters, Duck Sauce, and Justice), he’s premiered the video for new single, “Fair Warning.” The song is a fantastic dance-pop tune featuring raindrop synths and a transcendent chorus (and bongos!). The clip is a kaleidoscopic affair that projects super-colorful graphics upon the man who made the sounds.

“Fun is the key,” Glover says about his music, and the “Fair Warning” video follows that very same credo.

Weirdly, the single version of “Fair Warning” isn’t out in the U.S. yet (sadness), but just as Penguin Prison did to promote “Multi-Millionaire,” you can pocket a slew of free remixes via his website that should tide you over in the meantime.
