If you were expecting Regina Spektor would do a Night At The Museum-inspired music video for “All The Rowboats,” with locked-up works of art coming to life and banding together to break free of their stuffy confines, well, it’s not as literal as that. At all, really.
Instead, Spektor plays the part of the trapped — caught in an underwater net, running in place, caged by strands of lights, and bound by ropes. The only quasi-literal bit is that there is, in fact, a rowboat. But boy, does Spektor look gorgeous whilst doing all of the above. She could do far, far worse than have her image framed as this for posterity.
The clip for “All The Rowboats” was directed by Adria Petty, Peter Sluszka, and Ivan Abel, who previously collaborated on Spektor’s “Us.”
Spektor’s new album, What We Saw From The Cheap Seats, is available May 29. Another track from the set, “Don’t Leave Me (Ne me quitte pas)” premiered a few days ago, with a music video reportedly on the way in May.
