Video Premiere

‘Safe And Sound’… And Stefon?

Capital Cities has premiered the music video for “Safe And Sound.” The lead track on the Los Angeles’ duo’s 2011 self-titled EP, “Safe And Sound” was re-released in January on a new EP with remixes by DiscoTech and Napoleon, plus a new track, “Lazy Lies.”

The clip’s description on Capital Cities’ YouTube channel reads as one of those SNL Weekend Update segments featuring Stefon, the New York City Correspondent played by Bill Hader (and written with comedian John Mulaney). I can totally imagine Stefon saying, “This video has everything… Belgian attack dogs, exotic dancers, and benevolent llamas with underbites.”

I’m not making that up. Well, the Stefon part is a complete figment of my imagination (sadly), but not the dogs, dancers, or llamas. Directed by Jimmy Ahlander and filmed at the Zorthian Ranch outside of Los Angeles, the “Safe And Sound” music video most definitely features all three, and is even more odd than that trio suggests.

We’re a long way from “Holiday,” that’s for sure. Tourists beware.
