While Strange Talk prep their debut album for release early next year, the Melbourne electropop quartet has debuted a music video for first single, the awash-in-synths “Cast Away.”
Directed by Phillip Sage, the clip pays homage to ’80s coming-of-age films like Stand By Me and The Goonies. As Strange Talk frontman Stephen Dockery explained to Nylon Magazine, “The idea was to tell a story that most people growing up in the suburbs could relate to… with a twist! The clip is shot and edited in a very contemporary way, but still hints at touches of some ’80s film nostalgia.” Kids on bikes and stumbling upon something mysterious, basically.
Strange Talk will hit both U.S. coasts this month, playing San Francisco, Los Angeles, and the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City. Check Songkick for dates and venues.
