It was just yesterday that [STRANGERS] debuted their new Christmas song, “This Year,” here on Popservations.
Today, the London trio of David Maddox-Jones, Raife Hacking, and Piers Sherwood-Robert has delivered a music video for the moody “This Year.” Crafted from saturated handheld shots and time-lapse images (including one serene snow scene), [STRANGERS] has stitched together a perfect complement to what frontman Maddox-Jones describes as the song’s “haunting, epic winter vibe.”
Though Maddox-Jones boasted of the band’s avoidance of words like “tinsel” and “mistletoe” in writing “This Year,” I do believe I spy a brief appearance of some glittering ceiling decorations in the clip. After all, even a lonely Christmas isn’t quite Christmas without some ornamentation around as a reminder of what’s missing.
