As far as comeback albums are concerned, Suede‘s Bloodsports, their first new material in over 10 years, is one of the best in recent memory. Though founding guitarist Bernard Butler is still out of the fold (and likely forever), reuniting with original producer Ed Buller has recaptured much of what made me love the Britpop band in the first place — the swell, the swoon, the sheer audaciousness of Suede’s sound.
Today Suede premiered the music video for the second single from Bloodsports, “Hit Me.” While “It Starts And Ends With You” was a performance clip (serviceable if unremarkable), “Hit Me” takes a better, narrative approach, albeit band-free. It’s also visually entertaining, though the stuff of nightmares for any museum curator.
“Hit Me” also serves as the title track to a new EP from Suede featuring two new non-album tracks, “Falling Planes” and “What Violet Says.”
