On November 12, RCA issues a new Whitney Houston hits collection, I Will Always Love You: The Best Of Whitney Houston. Though it’s an 18-track release, some of the late singer’s biggies are absent from the single-disc set. Most notably missing are “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” and “Heartbreak Hotel,” the successful first and second singles from 1998’s My Love Is Your Love.
Those were most likely sacrificed to include two new tracks, a duet version of Houston’s 2009 comeback single, “I Look To You,” featuring vocals by the song’s writer R. Kelly (already out as a single) plus a previously unreleased song, “Never Give Up.”
Produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox, “Never Give Up” didn’t make the cut of Houston’s final studio album, 2009’s I Look To You. A lyric video premiered today:
“Never Give Up” is crying out for some solid club remixes. That would be a fitting tribute to Whitney’s legacy.
Here’s the tracklisting for I Will Always Love You: The Best Of Whitney Houston:

A bonus disc available exclusively via HSN features duets with Teddy Pendergrass, Jermaine Jackson, Aretha Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Whitney’s mother, Cissy Houston. The UK has dibs on a double-disc edition that collects 14 missing hits, including the should-have-been-a-smash, “Million Dollar Bill.” Houston’s final studio recording, “Celebrate,” featured on the Sparkle soundtrack, made none of the three iterations.
