Toni Braxton has debuted the music video for “I Heart You,” the thumping, club-ready first single from her forthcoming seventh studio album, Heartstrings & Synagogue Vibes. (An odd title made somewhat less so once you know that Braxton’s grandmother was Jewish.)
Directed by Braxton’s longtime collaborator Bille Woodruff, “I Heart You” marks the tenth time he’s lensed a music video for the singer, a professional relationship that stretches back to 1996’s “You’re Makin’ Me High.” While their latest team-up doesn’t have the big-budget feel of those earlier videos (few clips do these days), there’s no denying that Braxton looks as beautiful as ever.
That’s Braxton’s real-life boyfriend playing her love interest/DJ in “I Heart You.” He filled in for actor Coby Bell (The Game, Burn Notice), who missed the video shoot because of a delayed flight.
Next let’s hope Braxton releases the superb Mark Picchiotti remix of “I Heart You,” which really works the track into a frenzy.
